Submit details on Christmas services

The Vindicator will publish a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The list will be on the Religion page on Dec. 22. The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Wednesday.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day services will be published Dec. 29; deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Dec. 26.

Information should include the denomination, complete name of the church, address, city or suburb, time of Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services, your name, and a phone number for verification.

Christmas cantata

The choir of Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., will present the multimedia Christmas cantata “Silent Night, Holy Night” at a worship service at 10:45 a.m. Dec. 23. Other musical selections will be presented by choir members.

Advent devotion

Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., will host a pot luck and study group from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday on “The Season of Anticipation.”

An Advent devotion will be at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Friendly Bells. The Rev. Jerry Krueger will offer the devotion.

Live Nativity

Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, will stage an outdoor live Nativity with presentations at 5:30, 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. Dec. 23. A soup and sandwich meal will be served continuously throughout the evening.

Traveler’s service

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, will host a Traveler’s Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Dec. 23.

The candlelight service is for anyone who is unable to worship on Christmas Eve but wants to participate in the traditions of the evening.

Christmas vespers

The music department of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Blvd., will present the 65th annual Christmas vespers service at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. An instrumental prelude will begin at 4:15 p.m. with the traditional wassail served at 3:30 p.m. in the parlor.

Music and drama

New Life Lutheran Church, 1181 Churchill- Hubbard Road, will present a Christmas cantata “Lead Me Back to Bethlehem” at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Chancel Choir will take guests on a journey to recapture the awe of receiving God’s redeeming gift to the world.

A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

Theology on Tap

Theology on Tap, Mahoning County Chapter, will meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at V2, West Federal Street.

Kris Harper will speak on the “spirit of Christmas.”

The group is collecting hats, gloves and scarves for Catholic Charities.

Raridon concert

The Wade Raridon Singers, a chamber choir, will present a free concert of seasonal music at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Route 224.
