COLUMBIA, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania couple charged with the brutal killing of their 6-week-old son will head to trial early next year.
Twenty-four-year-old Andrew Moyer Sr. and 23-year-old Brianna Michael are in jail without bail in the death of Andrew Moyer Jr.
They waived their preliminary hearings today. A formal arraignment is set for Jan. 30.
Authorities say the infant was abused for at least a week before a final beating caused fatal brain injuries.
Prosecutors say the boy’s injuries also included nine broken ribs, facial injuries, burn marks and massive injuries to his genitals. He was found dead Oct. 18 at the couple’s Columbia apartment by his grandmother.
Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman says he has not ruled out seeking the death penalty for both defendants.
