Columbus casino begins search for 2,000 workers

Monday, April 30, 2012

COLUMBUS (AP) — Operators of a Columbus casino expected to open in the fall are starting the process of hiring about 2,000 people to work at the facility.

Penn National Gaming today was expected to open an employment office here where officials will interview qualified applicants who first apply online.

The company says it has openings in every department, including food service, security and finance. The initial priority is filling more than 600 positions for table-game dealers.

Ohio’s first casino is scheduled to open in downtown Cleveland in mid-May, followed about two weeks later by the casino in Toledo. Those two sites began the hiring process last year.

A fourth casino is under construction in Cincinnati. All four casinos were approved by Ohio voters in 2009.
