McDonald High looks to have a positive impact

Staff report

McDonald

On May 8, McDonald High School will be carrying on the tradition of Positive Impact Day.

Students, staff and administration will be around the village enhancing the physical features of the village by cleaning, mulching, edging, painting and planting flowers.

The rain dates for the event are May 9 and 10.

Positive Impact Day is the MHS version of Make a Difference Day.

Those involved use it as an opportunity to give back to their community.

High school principal Gary Carkido and superintendent Ken Halbert will be overseeing the event, which is coordinated by science teacher Chris Rupe and his ecology classes.

Positive Impact Day is about appreciation, respect, responsibility and service.

It is done in hopes of promoting a greater sense of student ownership in their school and village properties.

It is another way to brighten the spirits around the community as a work force of more than 400 comes together to serve.

McDonald community members wishing to add to this effort can join in with the “Great American Clean-Up” which will be open to McDonald residents May 12.

Willing workers should meet in the Ramsey Pavilion at Woodland Park at 9 a.m. that day, ready to work.
