Father Rajlich found dead and disheveled outside Holy Trinity church

Parishioners at Holy Trinity Church on Laird Avenue found the body of their priest between the church and the parish house today, Youngstown police reported.

Police found the body of the Rev. Janko Rajlich, 74, face down in the grass.

Father Rajlich’s clothing was in disarray, one of his shoes was 10 feet away from his body and his glasses were three feet away, a police report said. A silver watch was in the grass nearby, where a bloodstain was discovered, the report says. Rajlich had cuts on his face and his false teeth were out of his mouth.

The coroner’s office is investigating, police said.
