The Woodside PTA rolled out the red carpet for its students April 5 as it sponsored the annual spring dance that featured a Hollywood theme.
When the guests of honor arrived they walked on a red carpet surrounded by velvet rope to separate the stars from pesky paparazzi.
Although there was no requirement for attire, many Woodside students went for Hollywood class, with boys wearing suits and ties and girls wowing in sparkles and tiaras.
Mother Danielle Saylor joined in the fun by wearing a gown to accompany her daughter, Brianna Marshall, to the dance.
“Before we came, Brianna said ‘If I dress pretty, you have to dress pretty, too,’ and I did have something on hand. Now that we’re dressed so nicely, we’re really going to make it a fun night,” Saylor said.
After their entrance, guests made an appearance on the dance floor, ate from the potluck dinner, grabbed a bag of popcorn and explored game and craft stations.
Woodside students each took a photo next to an inflatable Academy Award and the developed photo was included in the “swag bag” of goodies that were given out at the end of the night.
During the event in the Woodside gym, Hollywood stars with the name and handprint of each Woodside student, made during a recent art class, decorated the walls.
PTA representative Amy Sopko, who organized the event, said the decorations were one of her favorite parts of the event.
“It’s always great to have the kids get involved. We hope the decorations and the whole dance made them feel like the superstars they are,” she said.
