W. Pa. man charged with cruelty in cat torture

OIL CITY, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man has been charged with animal cruelty because police say he tried to drown a caged cat in a garbage can containing water after first torturing it with a BB gun.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 60-year-old David Krawiec, of Oil City, who didn’t return a call for comment today.

Police charged Krawiec after a neighbor heard the cat’s cries and found the animal in a raccoon cage that was weighted down inside the garbage can on Sunday night.

Oil City police Chief Robert Wenner says the cat will lose at least one eye, but is stable in a veterinary hospital. Wenner says the cat had been shot about 20 times in the body and the eye with a BB gun before it was found in the barrel.
