A lot of writers on religious matters seem to get things wrong

There have been letters in The Vindicator concerning religious beliefs to which I wish to comment.

I waited until after the election so that my comments would be taken less political.

Once, a lady from Poland, Ohio, wrote a letter stating that she thought Congressman Ryan took the middle ground on his position about abortion. I have read the Bible through, several times, and I could not ever believe God has a middle ground on anything.

Another letter writer expressed his problem with comments of his church’s religious leaders. Apostle Paul writes in one of his epistles that a believer ought to listen to one’s religious leader’s instructions, go to the Bible and see what it says about the subject.

One letter stated the Supreme Court has decided the issue of abortion. The court is comprised of human beings. I certainly could not believe that God would be impressed by their rulings.

One letter writer stated that God gave us a free will. That certainly is true. However, early in the Old Testament, He said you can choose His blessing or His cursing.

The idea expressed in one letter stated that many, or even most, are using contraceptives or turning to abortion. That certainly would not make it right in God’s eyes.

Christ Jesus identifies His family as those who do the will of God the Father. He also sets the example in His prayer to God the Father before His crucifixion, when He indicates He does not want to suffer the Cross. He ends His prayer by, “Not My will, but Your will be done.”
