Earth Fest at Penn State Shenango

SHARON, PA.

Penn State Shenango’s annual Earth Fest will be Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at Lartz Memorial Commons on the campus in downtown Sharon.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include live music and entertainment, children’s activities, recycling events, Penn State Berkey Ice Cream, green information from local organizations and businesses, eco-friendly cars from Montrose Nissan and Mel Grata Chevrolet, and more. Food will be available to purchase.

Scheduled events include a bicycle-safety program (which begins at 11 a.m.); a seminar on good bugs and bad bugs for gardening by master gardener and author TC Conner; music by environmental folk singer Bill Oliver of Austin, Texas; and a presentation by Tom Amundsen on Shenango Valley Community Gardens.

Other activities throughout the day include Earth Day-themed games and crafts for children and an opportunity to shop in an ecofriendly local artist market.

Penn State Shenango’s information technology and business clubs will have recycling drives for computer equipment and tires.

Representatives from local organizations and businesses will share information on ways to reduce our carbon footprint.
