2 men plead innocent to drug-trafficking charges

NEWTON FALLS
Two 20-year-old village men pleaded innocent Thursday to one count each of aggravated drug- trafficking charges filed against them after police raided the 534 Cafe, 115 S. Milton Blvd., on Tuesday.
Nicholas K. Reed of Newton Drive and Daniel J. Sherman of Orchard Street were arraigned before Judge Philip Vigorito of Newton Falls Municipal Court.
No plea was entered for either man, but Judge Vigorito set bond at $50,000 for each and set a preliminary hearing for each at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Reed, Sherman and three others were taken into custody after the 4 p.m. raid, which followed an eight-month investigation. The other three haven’t been charged.
While serving the search warrant, police seized a significant amount of illegal drugs and contraband, the police department said.
If convicted of the charge, each man faces up to 10 years in prison.
