Junior League to honor breast cancer survivors

The Junior League of Youngstown will honor breast cancer survivors of the Mahoning Valley for the 17th year at its Pink RIbbon Tea on Monday at the Georgetown Banquet Center, 5945 South Ave.

Addressing the survivors and guests will be Dr. Rashid Abdu, who will speak about the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, developed in honor of his wife.

Co-director of the center, Dr. Nancy Gantt, will also speak, as will breast cancer survivor and author Lisa Klenoshak, an Ohio native.

Chicken paprikash to be served Sunday

YOUNGSTOWN

The American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., will have a chicken paprikash dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The cost is $8 and takeouts will be available for an additional $1.25.

The meals include homemade dumplings, green beans and dobos torte for dessert.

Tickets still available for Beer, Burger, Bocce

YOUNGSTOWN

Tickets are still available for Beer, Burgers & Bocce for Books Volume 2, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cassese’s MVR Restaurant, 410 N. Walnut St. The $15 tickets include a beer and a burger, plus an evening of fun events such as games, boccie, local celebrities and an auction. Call the library development office at 330-740-6086 or the MVR. Tickets also can be purchased at the door.
