Area residents said goodbye to summer with a “yee-haw” at Boardman Park on Aug. 27. During the last Family Fun Night of the season, the park offered a country hoedown for happy cowboys and cowgirls.

The event offered an evening of entertainment with the toe-tapping country of the Outlaw Band and family-friendly activity areas.

Armstrong Cable representative Krista White helped youth decorate white bandanas with dots from a paint-covered tennis ball. The park provided fun with an inflatable bounce castle, hay rides and entertainment from Jocko the Clown. Bridge of Hope Church, in its second year helping out at a Family Fun Night, provided a puppet show and face painting.

The church’s outreach coordinator Lori Valenzisi was happy to wield a paintbrush at the face-painting station on Aug. 27.

“At our church, our motto is to love God, love people and serve others. We take that to heart — we love helping out because we really love our community,” Valenzisi said.

When the sun went down, the park showed the film Toy Story 2.
