Angel Food Ministries closes its operations

Angel Food Ministries, a non-profit, nondenominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States, has closed operations, according to its Internet website.

The organization, which blamed its demise on poor economic and market conditions, said there is a group of former employees and food vendors that is working to find a better way of serving those who have come to depend on Angel Food.

Angel Food Ministries said 98 percent of the customers who placed orders for September have received a full refund, and work continues with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to credit the remaining 59 customers who used their USDA/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to place a September order.
