A city woman was shot in the leg following an altercation with another female.

The victim, 24, of Lauderdale Avenue, told police that she and three other women were at Joker’s Wrath Club on Market St. at about 4:45 a.m. Sunday when the suspect arrived and began arguing with the group.

The victim said she was sitting in the back of an SUV when she heard a gunshot and then felt a burning sensation in her leg, according to a police report. She was treated for a gunshot wound to the right thigh.

Three women outside the vehicle told police they saw the suspect pull out a handgun and fire in the direction of the SUV.

Youngstown police continue to investigate the assault.

Man arrested

City police arrested a 22-year-old man and charged him with felonious assault and kidnapping.

Devon T. Royal, of Youngstown, was arrested Saturday after police found him and several others inside a Steel Street apartment, according to a police report.

A woman who lived in the apartment told officers Royal had a gun, which was located on a mattress in the bedroom.

Details as to what happened inside the apartment and why Royal was charged weren’t available Sunday evening.

Band plans Tag Day

BOARDMAN

The Boardman Spartan Marching Band and Orchestra will go door-to-door asking for donations from 10 a.m. to noon during its annual Tag Day on Saturday. The donations will benefit the band’s uniform fund.
