‘Scrooge’ auditions at Playhouse

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Playhouse will have auditions at 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for its musical production of “Scrooge.” Auditionees should be prepared to sing a selection that shows vocal range. Accompanist will be provided. All ages and types are needed. All roles are open. The production will be Dec. 9-18. Daytime shows for schools also will be performed. Concert band seeks members

CANFIELD

The Canfield Community Concert Band will begin rehearsals for its fall season at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Canfield High School. Under the direction of Anthony Cebriak, the band welcomes new members at its weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals. No auditions are required, and musicians of all ages are encouraged.

Chorus rehearsals for ‘Messiah’

Jews and rock

YOUNGSTOWN

Rock historian John Fox will speak on “The History of Rock Music: A Jewish Perspective” at 7 p.m. Saturday at Temple Rodef Sholom. His lecture will include live and recorded music.
