Woman: 2 pitbulls killed my pet dog

YOUNGSTOWN

A 45-year-old South Side woman told police she helplessly watched two pitbull terrier dogs maul her family pet to death Sunday.

The Clearmont Avenue woman told police her family pet of 12 years, “Good Buddy,” was in her back yard about 1:30 p.m. Sunday when the two dogs broke loose from a neighbor’s house and attacked her dog. She showed police the remains of the small black and white terrier.

Police went to a house in the 500 block of Clearmont and watched the two pitbulls running loose. Officers were unable to approach the house because of the loose dogs on the property.

Dave Nelson of the Mahoning County Dog Warden’s office said the dog warden is investigating.
