Area man charged with domestic violence

CAMPBELL

A man hit the mother of his children at a residence on Douglas Drive, then dragged her back in by her hair after she escaped, police report.

John J. Gentile, 22, of 26 Douglas Drive, is charged with domestic violence.

He was arrested Saturday around 6 a.m. after the woman called police from a gas station in the city.

She told police Gentile hit her in the head several times at his house around 3:30 a.m.

He took off her clothes so she couldn’t leave the house, then left the room, the police report says.

While he was gone, she grabbed some clothes and escaped.

He found her outside and dragged her back in across pavement, grass and gravel, the police report says.

They stayed at the home until a relative of Gentile’s drove them to the gas station.

Gentile would not let the woman leave while the relative was filling the car, but she fought her way out and into the store, where she managed to contact police, the report says.
