YOUNGSTOWN — New vehicle sales in the Mahoning Valley vaulted 18 percent in August, led by another strong month from the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze.
Dealers sold 200 Cruzes in August, according to statistics released by the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
It’s the third straight month the Cruze has been the best-seller in the Valley. It now trails the Chevy Malibu 1,549 to 1,512 for the yearly sales lead. Dealers sold 192 Malibus last month.
Greenwood Chevrolet, 4695 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, was the top-selling dealer in August. It sold 176 new vehicles, topping Sweeney Chevrolet, 8010 Market St., Youngstown, which sold 135 Bob and Chuck Eddy 4850 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, sold 131.
