Beer, Burgers and Bocce set Sept. 27 as library fundraiser

Cassese’s MVR, a neighbor of the main branch of the Mahoning County Library will host Beer, Burgers & Bocce for Books, Chapter 11, a fundraiser for the library. The event will begin at 5:30 Sept. 27. Tickets are $15 per person.
The MVR was founded in the 1920s by Carmine Cassese in the Smoky Hollow neighborhood on Youngstown’s North Side. Today, Carmine’s grandson, Carmine Cassese, his wife, Patty, and their sons, Frank and Joe, still run the family business, including its locally renowned Bocce Arena.
The fundraising committee has many events planned: boccie, cornhole, 50-50 raffle, and Auction in a Bag, which includes baskets donated by library fans.
Anyone wishing to donate a basket or to buy a ticket should call Debbie Liptak, library development director and co-chairwoman of the event, at 330-740-6086.

All proceeds benefit The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. Chairwomen are Liptak, Natalie Lariccia and Julie Costas.
