Warren golfer Kokrak at No. 1

Saturday, October 29, 2011

Warren JFK grad Jason Kokrak closed today atop the in the PGA's Nationwide Golf Tour Championship. He started the day tied for the lead.

And after a gusty, blustery, wind-blown 75, his three-day total of 209 is one shot ahead of Scott Brown headed into the biggest payday of the year on the tour that feeds the PGA Tour.

Based on the Day 2 finish on Friday, Kokrak would be the tour's leading money winner if the order stayed true through today and Sunday's final round. That is even more true headed into Sunday.

Two months ago, he was just trying to win some cash. Today's he's being discussed as Player of the Year on the Nationwide. Wow.

The top 25 on the Nationwide earn their tour cards on for the 2012 PGA Tour. Kokrak is assured of that based on his season so far.

Finishing No. 1 on the money list would be icing.

The Golf Channel is broadcasting the tourney live today and Sunday.
