NEW CASTLE, Pa.
Lawrence County commissioners said plans for an upcoming $1 million Maitland Lane bridge project will be available for public inspection.
The public can see the project plans from Monday to Nov. 4 at the Hickory Township Municipal Building, 127 Eastbrook Neshannock Falls Road, and at Neshannock Municipal Building, 3131 Mercer Road.
Public input and detour routes are welcome.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation project to rehabilitate a bridge, which carries Maitland Lane over the Neshannock Creek, is tentatively set to take place between December 2011 and July 2012.
One-lane traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic signals at both ends of the bridge starting in April.
There also will be a 10-day detour, however, when the bridge is closed to traffic in mid-June. The detour directs traffic over Mercer Road, Route 956 and Eastbrook-Volant Road.
The project begins 600 feet west of the intersection of Maitland Lane with Camp Eastbrook Road and ends 500 feet east of the intersection of Maitland with Hanna Lane.
Commissioners last week also announced they are using the last of this year’s liquid-fuels allotment to help two communities with flood damage.
They approved $10,000 for repair of catch basins in Ellwood City, which were damaged by recent floods, and $5,450 to repair a collapsed road on West Washington Street in Union Township.
Commissioners will next meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Taylor Volunteer Fire Department.
