The school district handed out the final Netbook computer to freshman Emily Witmer this month.

Columbiana Schools provides each student in grades nine through 12 with a Netbook. The computer is the student’s to use throughout the school year, and they go to class and home with the students.

Two years ago, the district began its 1:1 computing program with two classrooms of senior students. Last school year, it was for all junior and senior students. This year, it was expanded to all Columbiana High School students.

The initiative aims to make Columbiana students among the most technologically prepared students to enter college and the work force.
