Schwarzenegger back on movie set
LOS ANGELES
Muscleman-turned movie star-turned California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is back before the cameras.
He’s on the New Mexico set of “The Last Stand,” playing the starring role as a small-town border sheriff.
The actor posted a message on his Twitter account late Monday saying, “Fantastic first day on the set of The Last Stand. Big thanks to the crew — keep up the great work.”
The Lionsgate studio says Schwarzenegger plays a former Los Angeles police officer who ends up sheriff of a small border town after a botched operation.
Soulja Boy arrested on drug charge
TEMPLE, Ga.
Authorities say hip-hop star Soulja Boy is facing a drug charge after police stopped his rental car in the west Georgia town of Temple on Interstate 20.
Temple Police Chief Tim Shaw tells The Associated Press that police stopped the rented Cadillac Escalade early Tuesday morning. He said officers found marijuana inside.
Police say the car was stopped because a light was not working.
The artist, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was booked into the Carroll County Jail on charges of marijuana and firearms possession. His bond was set at $10,000.
Shaw said that based on what he knows of the arrest, all five occupants of the car were very cordial.
Carroll County officials say Way is represented by attorney Kip Jones.
Family describes harm of bigamy probe
SALT LAKE CITY
Cable television’s polygamous “Sister Wives” family is telling a federal judge in Utah how much they’ve been hurt by the threat of prosecution under the state’s bigamy law.
Kody Brown and his wives write in new court papers that they’ve lost jobs, were forced to move to Nevada and suffered harm to their reputations after police launched an investigation last year.
The Browns are featured on the TLC program “Sister Wives.”
They filed a lawsuit in July challenging Utah’s bigamy statute. The suit filed in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City contends the state unfairly applies the law to polygamists.
State prosecutors have said it is unlikely Brown or his wives actually would be charged with the third-degree felony.
State attorneys have asked a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit.
Actress sues Amazon for revealing her age
SEATTLE
An actress is suing Amazon.com in federal court in Seattle for more than $1 million for revealing her age on its Internet Movie Database website and refusing to remove the reference when asked.
The actress is not named in the lawsuit filed Thursday that refers to her as Jane Doe. It says she lives in Texas and is of Asian descent and has an Americanized stage name.
The lawsuit accuses IMDb of misusing her personal information after she signed up for the industry insider IMDbPro service in 2008. Shortly thereafter, she noticed her legal date of birth had been added to her public acting profile. She requested that it be removed, and IMDb refused, the lawsuit says.
“If one is perceived to be ‘over-the-hill,’ i.e., approaching 40, it is nearly impossible for an up-and-coming actress, such as the plaintiff, to get work as she is thought to have less of an ‘upside,’ therefore, casting directors, producers, directors, agents-manager, etc. do not give her the same opportunities, regardless of her appearance or talent,” the lawsuit states.
