Wilson to seek 6th Congressional District seat

Ex-U.S. Rep. Charlie Wilson announced today he’ll run in 2012 for the 6th Congressional District seat he lost last year.

Wilson, a Democrat from St. Clairsville, will file his nominating petitions for the seat by next Wednesday.

He is the first Democrat to declare his candidacy for this position.

The district includes all of Columbiana County and a portion of southern Mahoning County.

Wilson lost the 2010 general election by five percentage points to Republican Bill Johnson.

Johnson of Marietta plans to run for re-election in 2012.
