The school district approved hiring a new treasurer at its meeting Wednesday.

Arthur J. Ginnetti III, 30, of Struthers will take the job effective Jan. 1.

He is replacing Mike Evanson, who was treasurer at Struthers for the past 15 years. Evanson is retiring after a 31-year career.

The board approved a two-year contract for Ginnetti. His salary is $55,000, though it could change at the discretion of the school board, said schools Superintendent Robert Rostan.

Ginnetti will be hired as a treasurer consultant from Dec. 5 through Dec. 31 at a daily rate of $211 a day.

“He’ll work with Mike,” said Rostan. “It’s an opportunity for him to slide in and know where we’re at with different projects and grants.”

Ginnetti has been the fiscal manager for the Mahoning and Columbiana Training Association, which administers government funding to help retrain displaced workers, he said. He worked there for five years. Before that, he was an accounting clerk at the Corrections Corporation of America’s Northeast Ohio Correctional Center.

He graduated from Youngstown State University in 2004.

Rostan said Ginnetti was chosen from eight applicants.

“He has not worked as a treasurer before, but he has worked in the public sector, and impressed us with his knowledge,” Rostan said.
