Ohio mom charged in death of 28-pound teen girl

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman and three others have been charged after the death of her 14-year-old daughter, who had cerebral palsy and weighed 28 pounds when she died.

The Montgomery County coroner’s office ruled the girl died March 1 from nutritional and medical neglect complicated by her chronic condition. She died minutes after paramedics rushed her to a hospital.

The grand jury in Dayton indicted the girl’s mother, 42-year-old Angela Norman, on Thursday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering children. The teen’s former nurse faces charges including involuntary manslaughter. Two other women are charged with failing to report child abuse.

Prosecutor’s spokesman Greg Flannagan says Norman was arrested today and is in jail.
