Public meeting on injection well

Township residents will be able to voice their opinions on a new injection well at a town-hall meeting next week.

A representative from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will meet with residents at 3 p.m. Monday at the Coitsville Township Administration Building, 3711 McCartney Road.

Youngstown-based D&L Energy Inc. is in the process of putting in a disposal well on U.S. Route 422 near The Purple Cat. The well is used to dispose of brine water from fracking sites.

Fracking is a process in which water, chemicals and sand are blasted through pipes into rocks thousands of feet below the ground to unlock natural oil and gas.
