Mahoning County Democratic Party precinct committee members will choose among four candidates to be the next county treasurer on Monday.
Also, the 15 precinct committee members from Struthers will choose from two candidates to serve an unexpired council-at-large term at the same meeting.
Today was the deadline to apply for both positions.
The treasurer candidates are Dan Yemma, interim county treasurer; Kenneth A. Carano, a former Gov. Ted Strickland official who also served as an Ohio House representative; Roxanne DeNiro, a 29-year treasurer’s office employee; and Paul J. Canter, a certified public accountant.
The two candidates seeking the Struthers council seat, vacated by Yemma when he was appointed interim county treasurer, are: Carol Crytzer, a Democratic precinct committee member, and William J. Basista, who owns Basista Hauling.
