Thanks to the Canfield Rotary and Greenwood Chevrolet, a local resident will be driving away in a brand new Chevy Cruze come September.

The Chevy Cruze Raffle was announced to the community on May 3, when local Rotarians, manufacturers and laborers gathered to kick off of the fundrasier that will benefit the projects of the Canfield Rotary and the Hospice of the Valley.

Lynn Roman, service projects coordinator for the Canfield Rotary, sees the project as a celebration of community cooperation.

“The funds raised by this project are supporting local organizations and projects. Beyond that, our workers in Lordstown build the Cruze and dealerships like Greenwood sell and service the vehicles. A ticket in our raffle truly will show support for so many parts of the Mahoning Valley,” Roman shared.

The $27,000 Cruze was on display in the showroom of Greenwood Chevrolet at the kick-off celebration on May 3.

For the lucky local who wins the vehicle, there will be no lease and they will completely own the car.

Marshall Coney, Jr., community coordinator for the UAW 1112, pointed out a plus for the future winner of the Cruze.

“Our winner will love the fuel efficiency of the Cruze with the rise of gas prices at the moment,” Coney observed.

Tickets for the raffle cost $20 and can be requested from Hospice of the Valley employees or Canfield Rotary members. The drawing for the Cruze will be held Sept. 5 at the Canfield Fair.

The funds raised from the raffle will benefit the specialized care of Hospice of the Valley, and will help the Canfield Rotary in sponsoring and funding clothing drives, youth exchange programs, scholarships and various community projects.
