An accident on U.S. Route 422 near the New Castle School of Trades injured four people, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said the accident happened at 5:35 p.m. Thursday.

Timothy Alan Holbrook, 54, of Niles, driving a Jeep Cherokee, tried to turn left into the parking lot of the school, police said. Holbrook crossed the path of a pickup truck driven by Michael George Tsarnas, 39, of Campbell.

After impact, the Cherokee spun counterclockwise and ended up in a ditch on its passenger’s side.

The pickup truck traveled off the road and hit a parked car in the school parking lot head-on.

Tsarnas was taken to St. Elizabeth with moderate injuries, and one of his passengers, Michael Cruz Mayyou, 24, of Struthers was taken to the hospital with major injuries, police said. Another of Tsarnas’ passengers, John Michael Pontikos, 55, of Struthers, was not injured.

St. Elizabeth had no information on their conditions Friday.

Police said charges are pending against Timothy Holbrook.
