Club members earn gardening awards

Members of local garden clubs won top national awards at the 83rd annual Garden Club of Ohio Inc. Convention recently at the Holiday Inn.

East Liverpool/Calcutta Area Garden Club won the first place Civic Improvement Award and the first place Most Outstanding Yearbook.

Winning National Garden Club ribbons in the standard flower show were the following: Beverly Patrick of Trumbull County Herb Society, the Table Artistry Award for her entry, “Wine Tasting at Lanterman Falls;” Pearl Marlos of Gleaners Garden Club for her parallel design; Rose Marie Roth of Daphne Garden Club for her table capsule design; and Anne Ellis of Nature Lovers Garden Club for her abstract design.

The Arboreal Award went to Mary Lou Flere of Wildwood Garden Club for her forsythia flowering branch.
