BROOKFIELD

The Warren post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car crash at 1:58 a.m. today at the intersection of Brookfield Avenue and Edmond Street that seriously injured three people.

Those involved were Joseph Olson, 22, of Masury, driver of one car; Joni M. Lapcevich, 44, of Hermitage, Pa., driver of the other car; and Alfred Taylor, 39, of Sharon, Pa., passenger in Lapcevich’s car. All three were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

The highway patrol said Lapcevich’s vehicle was traveling southeast on Brookfield Avenue at high speed when Olson’s vehicle pulled out of Edmond Street onto Brookfield Avenue from a stop sign into the path of Lapcevich’s car.

The two vehicles collided, causing Olson’s vehicle to travel off the east side of the road. Lapcevich’s vehicle traveled off of the east side of the road, coming to rest against a stone retaining wall.

The accident caused Brookfield Avenue to be closed for two hours.

The highway patrol continues to investigate.
