Twelve singers will compete in the Rocket to the Stars semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday in the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 110 E. Lincoln Ave.
Six will be picked to compete in the finals at the Fireworks Festival on July 9, which will be broadcast live on Froggy 95 with the audience selecting the winner through text- message voting.
“The cathedral is the perfect location for this type of contest,” said Wade Sutton, the show’s producer. “The stage is huge, the acoustics unbeatable and the talent phenomenal.”
The semifinalists are: Anthony Bello, Hermitage; John Burgh, Sewickley; Allison Hutchison, New Castle; Nick Kerpsack, Ellwood City; Tarra Layne, Pulaski; Lauren Minenok, New Castle; Justin Powell, Beaver Falls; Brooke Reynolds, Mercer; Jordan Rice, New Castle; Cara Udy, Grove City; Cassidi Udy, Grove City; and Heather Worden, Burgettstown.
