There was Trouble at McKinley Elementary School on May 6.

Trouble the game, that is.

Also there were family favorites Boggle, Bingo, Mad Gab and Guess Who, as well as McKinley students and their families.

Fifth- and sixth-grade McKinley students each brought a board game to the school’s second annual game night. The games stayed stationary, but the families moved between games every 20 minutes, giving the guests a chance to meet each other.

Melissa Kellgren, a PTO member who helped plan the event, hoped the games were an icebreaker.

“We wanted to offer the families a relaxed night to just let them have fun, but we also hope they take advantage of meeting some new faces…[and] start some new friendships,” Kellgren shared.

Tickets were offered to each table’s game winners, who could use their tickets in raffles for prizes. The raffle included a pair of Indians tickets, $50 cash, a gift card to Kravitz Deli in the Poland library and piles of Poland pride gear, among others.

“On the other side of Poland, senior prom is happening ,” PTO chair of the event Terri Windsor pointed out. “For those families with both high school students and students here at McKinley, we were happy to provide a fun activity for all those moms, dads and younger siblings.”
