BOARDMAN

Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries throughout the township.

A 14-year-old Youngstown teen, of Princeton Avenue, and another 14-year-old Youngstown teen, of Chicago Avenue, were arrested around 7:40 p.m. Thursday on Market Street and taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, according to reports.

Police said both claimed to be a member of the “Boss Boyz” gang on the city’s South Side.

The Princeton Avenue teen is charged with three counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary, while the Chicago Avenue teen is charged with one court of attempted burglary, reports state.

A Maple Drive resident told police someone tried to enter her house between 3:30 and 6 p.m. Thursday when she found the glass broken out of a side door, officers said.

An off-duty Boardman police officer saw two teens who matched suspects’ description from an earlier burglary walking on Market Street and alerted other officers, according to reports.

Police said the two teens began to run through yards but were caught and questioned.

They admitted breaking into the Maple Drive house and also a home on Homestead Drive earlier that day, police said.

In that burglary, the occupant said a flat-screen television, video-game system, computer, digital cameras and backpacks were taken, and police noted that the rear-door glass was broken and drawers and cabinets left open, according to reports.

Two other burglaries, less than a mile apart, were reported in the northeast part of the township between 1:30 and 3 p.m. Thursday.

A man on Yongstown- Poland Road told officers that his front door was forced open while he was not home, and his flat-screen television and Russian war rifle were missing, reports state.

Police said a woman on Country Club was cutting grass when individuals entered an unlocked side door to her house and dumped her jewelry box on the bed, taking a stash of jewelry valued at about $7,000.

Police do not have any suspects in those two burglaries.
