United Veterans' Council event is Saturday in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN — The United Veterans’ Council of Youngstown and Environs named John T. Pariza of Boardman as 2010 Veteran of the Year and Bev Fisher, manager of the Canfield Fair, as its Citizen of the Year.

The recipients will be honored at a banquet Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Hall. The social hour is at 5 p.m., the dinner at 6 p.m. and the program at 7 p.m. The speaker is Steve Matune, director of the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

Also at the meeting, 2011 officers will be elected. They are commander, William Pacak; senior vice commander, Stanley Clingerman; junior vice commander and treasurer, Rod Hosler; adjutant, Jan Brown; sergeant-at-arms, Bruce Kirkland; and chaplin, Leo Connelly.
