Police: Pa. man on ‘bath salts’ arrested 3 times

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a northeastern Pennsylvania man has been arrested three days in a row while under the influence of the synthetic drug known as “bath salts.”

WNEP-TV reports that police twice needed a stun gun to detain 37-year-old Kenneth Albelli while he was out of control on the increasingly popular and largely unregulated substance.

Albelli’s latest arrest was Wednesday. Wilkes-Barre police say he has chased cars and gotten into parked vehicles while the drivers were behind the wheel.

Investigators say Albelli acknowledges using bath salts, which can mimic the effects of cocaine and methamphetamine. Judges in nearby Scranton issued a court order banning their sale on Wednesday.

Albelli is being held on $7,500 bail on charges including resisting arrest. It was not clear if he had an attorney.
