POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

March 23

Harassment: A James Street woman reported having been harassed.

March 24

Citation: Police cited 44-year-old Mark A. Capan, 725 W. Wood St., Lowellville, on a charge of driving under the influence during a traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 and Struthers Road.

Theft/misuse of a credit card: A Center Road woman found out her stolen check card was used to make 25 unauthorized withdrawals totaling $3,073.

March 25

Harassment: A woman in the 7100 block of Oak Drive filed a report.

Harassment: A Cleveland woman reported having been harassed at a residence in the 2400 block of Clyde Street.

Theft: Tonja Donadelle, 42, of 2660 Cooper St., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of bath tissues, laundry detergent and paper towels from Giant Eagle, 3130 Center Road.

March 26

Burglary: A pressure washer, a China set, a firearm and a table saw were among items stolen from a home in the 6000 block of New Castle Road someone had entered through a side door. The loss came to $1,605.

BOARDMAN

March 25

Theft/damage: Someone smashed a vehicle’s window in the 4100 block of Dover Road and removed a $1,200 laptop computer.

Assault: An employee with St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Boardman Campus, 8401 Market St., told police a patient trying to leave against medical advice struck her face and kicked her in the groin. The worker was not seriously injured, however.

Theft: Arkadiy Senderov, 64, of 2366 Venloe Drive, Poland, was charged with taking a $79 women’s shirt from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Domestic violence: Anthony T. Harrison, 21, of 4020 Hillman Way, Boardman, was charged with making a domestic-violence threat after a family member alleged Harrison had threatened to kill him during an argument about money.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Midlothian Boulevard resulted in the arrest of 25-year-old James A. Jones, 77 Morley Ave., Campbell. Jones was wanted by Youngstown police.

Criminal mischief: A Silver Meadow Lane man said several women in a car tossed eggs at his residence.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered Spring Fresh Professional Cleaning, 7380 Southern Blvd., through a rear door. Miscellaneous tools appeared to be missing.

Theft: Sixty DVDs were missing from an apartment in the 800 block of Cook Avenue.

Theft by deception: A Shields Road woman told authorities a man claiming to want to rent out an apartment collected $1,400 from her over a four-week period and discovered it was a scam.

Fraud: Macedonia, Ohio, police with a woman in custody contacted Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road, to say she had a receipt proving she had bought an $1,800 computer from the business with someone else’s credit card.

Theft: Esteban D. Brown, 28, of 88 Neff Drive, Canfield, was charged with stealing a $50 curling iron from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

March 26

Possible theft: A woman at a Boardman-Canfield Road business reported her driver’s license lost or stolen.

Identity fraud: A Midgewood Drive man discovered someone had hacked into his e-mail account, changed various options and created a fictitious account that netted $1,850 worth of monetary assistance.

Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a home in the 7700 block of Amberwood Trail.

Theft: A woman left Caffe Capri Italian Bar & Grille, 8000 Market St., without paying a $24.55 food bill.

Identity theft: A Lemont Drive woman learned her missing credit card was used to make numerous unauthorized transactions in the township.

Attempted fraud: A Spring Garden Drive woman found out someone had tried to use her credit card without permission at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Criminal mischief: Landscaping lights were pulled from a flower bed in the 7700 block of Silver Fox Drive.

Harassment: A Winterberry Drive woman said her former boyfriend has made a series of such calls.

Harassment: A worker with a Market Street restaurant reported getting a threatening call regarding a pizza order.

Theft: A vehicle check on Market Street led to 37-year-old Lisa M. Rafidi’s arrest. Rafidi, of 123 Shields Road, Boardman, was wanted in the theft of various items from Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Criminal mischief: Someone threw eggs at a home in the 7500 block of Brandy Place.

Criminal damaging: Someone threw eggs at a garage and residence in the 7600 block of West Parkside Drive causing $250 in damage.

Harassment: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road eatery said a woman made harassing and unwanted calls.

March 27

Harassment: A Glenwood Avenue woman reported a male caller threatened to kill her.

Harassment: A Hillman Way man said he received a threatening call.

Arrest: Police arrested Judith L. Grant, 46, of 5527 E. Calla Road, New Middletown, on a charge of violating a protection order after being in an argument at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Domestic violence: David L. Brown Jr., 41, of 1263 Red Tail Hawk Drive, Boardman, was taken into custody near U.S. Route 224 and state Route 7 after Brown’s girlfriend alleged he had struck her head. He was later charged with criminal trespassing after the woman alleged Brown had come to her home in violation of conditions of his bond.

Theft: A vehicle’s rear license plate was removed in the 30 block of Carter Circle.

March 28

Theft: A woman stole hair dye and a T-shirt from Dollar General, 853 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Assault: A woman at a Woodrow Avenue residence told police a man shoved the accuser, causing her to strike her head against a wall. She suffered swelling, light-headedness and scratches.

Harassment: A Melbourne Avenue man reported receiving numerous unwanted and threatening calls.

Theft: A Canfield boy reported the theft of his cell phone at a McClurg Road business.

Theft: Keith E. Allen, 55, of 66 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of theft and obstructing official business after soap, fabric softener and other merchandise was stolen from Anzevino’s Sparkle Market, 6315 Market St. Allen also provided false information, police said.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle at a Market Street dealership sustained $400 in damage to a window and door molding.

Theft: Two credit cards and checkbooks, a passport and a Social Security card were removed from a car in the 7400 block of Sugartree Drive.

Theft: Mildred F. Zarlingo of 189 Reed Ave., Campbell, faced a felony charge, accused of stealing $666 worth of clothing and other property from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Criminal damaging: A small crack was found in a window to a home in the 200 block of Wolcott Drive.

Theft: Someone took an $1,800 laser-transit device from a construction site in the 6600 block of South Avenue.

Arrest: Jason L. Womack, 25, of 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, faced a felony count of attempted auto theft and misdemeanor charges of theft, resisting arrest and obstructing official business after police said he tried to steal a vehicle at a business in the 5300 block of South Avenue. The theft charge came from a situation at Anzevino’s Sparkle Market, a report showed.

March 29

Arrest: Officers pulled over a vehicle on South Avenue, where they took into custody 36-year-old Toni C. Hartman, 150 Bright Ave., Campbell, on a felony probation-violation charge related to one count of drug possession.
