Ohio man pleads guilty in mother's death

CINCINNATI (AP) — A Cincinnati man has pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in the death of his mother, found dead from a blood infection last year with bedsores and maggots on her body.

Court records show that 33-year-old Brian White also pleaded guilty Monday to failure to provide for a functionally-impaired adult in the July death of Jorene White, who was bedridden and suffered from debilitating arthritis.

The reckless homicide charge was reduced from involuntary manslaughter.

Court records show that prosecutors agreed to recommend five years’ probation for White. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 6 1/2 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for April 26.

White’s father, 65-year-old Darrel White, was convicted on the same charges last year. A judge ordered probation and psychiatric treatment.

Brian White’s attorney declined comment today.
