Court date set for bowling-alley owner

Staff report

MERCER, PA.

The owner of a bowling alley who is charged with unlawful contact with minors, indecent exposure and corruption of minors will be in court next week for a preliminary hearing.

James Martin Kopan, 46, of Andrew Street in Sharon, Pa., will appear next Monday in District Court in Mercer.

The charges stem from incidents that occurred with a 12-year-old boy at Kopan’s bowling alley, Tornado Alley in Coolspring Township, in May, said Pennsylvania State Police. Police said Kopan was arrested on a warrant. They did not give an arrest date.

Kopan was taken to Mercer County Jail, police said.

Kopan was arrested March 2 and charged with similar crimes involving four children — age 7, 9, 9 and 12 — at the alley in November, police said.

State police said he fondled those victims, showed them pornography and exposed himself to them.

Police said they are investigating whether there are more victims.
