Overheard phone call foils Ohio pizza robbery plan
CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati police say a plan to rob a pizza-delivery driver was foiled when an employee at the business overheard it discussed by a cell phone caller who ordered the delivery and failed to hang up.
Police say the call was made to Toppers Pizza early this morning. Detective Daniel Kreider says police were called, and two officers posed undercover to deliver four pizzas.
Police say a 19-year-old man grabbed the pizzas and fled with a 14-year-old boy in on the plan. The two were arrested on robbery charges after a short chase. Kreider says the teen told police the man originally planned to punch the driver while the teen grabbed the money.
