Jeff Rasile resigns as McDonald high boys basketball coach

MCDONALD — After eight years of panting and screaming on the sidelines until he was hoarse, Jeff Rasile is ready to take a breather.

The long-time McDonald High boys basketball coach announced he will resign from his position effective immediately. Rasile said several factors contributed to his decision. But ultimately, he just needed some time away from the game.

“There’s lots of reasons. I’m tired. I’m exhausted,” Rasile said. “And this isn’t one of those spur of the moments decisions, it’s been lingering for the last year, year and a half. But it’s all about me. It’s not about the kids or the school or anything. It’s just I need to take a breath.”

Rasile led the Blue Devils to eight-straight district championships and 164 victories — more than 20 per season. This season, the team won its first-ever regional game before falling to eventual state champions Berlin Hiland in the regional championship.
