Vegetable-growing contest for Trumbull County youths

CORTLAND

The Trumbull 4-H and Master Gardener programs are hosting a vegetable-growing contest for Trumbull County youths Aug. 6 at the 2011 Summer Sizzle at the Trumbull Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St.

There will be three age divisions: 8 years old and younger, 9 to 13 and 14 to 18.

The competition will be in separate classes for tomatoes, peppers (bell and nonbell), squash/zucchini and fun — use your imagination to create a work of art using any of the vegetables from categories 1-3. Register by July 29 at www.trumbull.osu.edu. Click “4-H Youth Development” and “Current Events.”
