STATE PATROL
Two Trumbull County men were promoted recently by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Trooper Troy Sexton of Cort-land was promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sexton will transfer from his current assignment at the Chardon Post to serve as an assistant post commander at the Ashtabula Post.
He began his patrol career in September 2000. He earned his commission in March 2001 and was assigned to the Chillicothe Post, where he was named post Trooper of the Year in 2005 and 2006, and earned the ACE award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement in 2005.
In November 2007, he transferred to the Portsmouth Post, and in August 2009 he transferred to Chardon post.
Sexton completed training at Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command. He and his wife, Brooke, have three children, Hannah, 13; Lani, 5; and Nicholas, 20.
Sgt. Brian T. Holt of Champion was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Holt will transfer from his current assignment at the Ravenna Post to serve as post commander at the Warren Post.
Holt began his career in April 1991 as a cadet dispatcher at the Ashtabula Post. He earned his commission in November 1993 and was assigned to the Chardon Post.
In May 1995, he transferred to the Hiram Post and returned to serve at the Chardon Post in November of that year. In March 1999 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Medina Post to serve as assistant post commander. In May 2000, he transferred to his most recent assignment at the Ravenna Post.
Holt and his wife, Letra, have four children, Nathan, 7; Lauren, 13; Jared, 16; and Tyler, 18.
