Youngstown police raid comes up with guns, drugs

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Police raided a home on the city’s South Side, seizing guns and drugs.

According to police reports, officers with Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force went to the West Judson Avenue address just before 5 p.m. Thursday to serve a search warrant. Officers had to force their way into the home because no one would come to the door.

Once inside the home officers found five people gathered in a bedroom. Two doors to the home had been barricaded from the inside.

Police confiscated two firearms, suspected crack cocaine, a digital scale, two small bags of suspected marijuana, $166 and several unidentified pills.

The people inside were questioned by police as people of interest, but no arrests were made.

Officers in an earlier raid on Elm Street on the city’s North Side about 7:30 p.m. Thursday did not find any drugs or weapons but arrested Kalvin Franklin, 41, of Verona Avenue, on two warrants — one for drug abuse-marijuana and another for identity fraud.
