North Side fire

YOUNGSTOWN

All seven family members escaped a Gypsy Lane house fire unscathed.

Youngstown firefighters responded to the call at 311 Gypsy Lane around 11:23 a.m. Wednesday. Battalion Chief Frank Rosa said a teenage girl was making french fries on the stove before the fire started. It spread through the kitchen ceiling to the bedroom above. The fire then rekindled Wednesday evening, rising through the wall, gutting the kitchen and the bedroom. A damage estimate was unavailable Wednesday night.

Counterfeit money

LIBERTY

Police were called to Conroys X-Press, 3990 Belmont Ave., around 4 p.m. Tuesday about a counterfeit $10 bill that a 19-year-old man tried to use. The manager said the business uses a counterfeit marking pen to check currency and found it be fake. The man told police the money came from his family’s vending machine business. He was unaware it was counterfeit.
