Family escapes Gypsy Lane fire today

YOUNGSTOWN — All seven family members escaped a Gypsy Lane house fire unscathed.

Youngstown firefighters responded to the call at 311 Gypsy around 11:23 a.m. Wednesday.

Battalion Chief Frank Rosa said a teenage girl was making french fries on the stove before the fire started.

It spread through the kitchen ceiling to the bedroom above. Rosa estimated the damage at $5,000.
