Suspect still hospitalized in Niles murder

NILES

Police have been unable to interview the chief suspect in the homicide of Lisa Fisher, 39, found dead in her home on South Cleveland Avenue on Feb. 8. Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, Trumbull County coroner, ruled Fisher’s death a homicide, caused by blunt-force trauma to the head.

Bruce Simeone, Niles police chief, said Monday the investigation has been slowed by his department’s inability to interview Fisher’s husband, John Fisher, 53, who was found in the home Feb. 8 also. John Fisher was critically injured, the result of apparently self-inflicted lacerations, police said.

Simeone said it appears that John Fisher will survive, but it is unknown when police will be able to interview him. John Fisher remains hospitalized, Simeone said. Simeone earlier characterized the Feb. 8 episode as a murder-attempted suicide.
