Jacubec named to 2nd team
Nate Jacubec and the Struthers Wildcats won the All-American Conference White Tier and the Div. II district tournament at Boardman High. The Wildcats’ season ended last week with a regional semifinal loss to Cleveland John Hay.

Struthers High basketball player Nate Jacubec has been named to the Associated Press’ All-Ohio second team for Division II.
Jacubec, a senior who averaged 19.8 points for the Wildcats, is one of 10 Mahoning Valley players who were honored in Divisions I and II.
Poland’s Colin Reardon was named to the Special Mention list for Div. II. Among those named for Honorable Mention were Cardinal Mooney’s Danny Reese, Hubbard’s Mike Lopuchovsky, East Liverpool’s Marky Thompkins and Struthers’ Jake Jacubec and Adam Ryzaj.

In Div. I, Howland’s TJ Lanier and Warren Harding’s Tre Brown were named to the Special Mention list.
Harding’s Craig Ferrin received Honorable Mention honors.
Columbus Northland’s Trey Burke and Garfield Heights’ Trey Lewis shared Player of the Year honors for Div. I.
Lewis’ coach, Sonny Johnson shared Coach of the Year honors with Liberty Township’s Wally Vickers.
In Div. II, Toledo Rogers’ Damond Powell was named the Player of the Year.
Randy Kortokrax of Columbus Hartley was honored as Coach of the Year.
The Divisions III and IV lists will be released today.
