Coroner: Slain Ohio police officer shot 5 times

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a police officer killed over the weekend was shot five times after he stopped a man on bicycle.

A coroner’s report released today says three of the shots hit officer Andrew Dunn in the back and that he died within minutes of the early Saturday morning shooting.

Investigators say Dunn was able to fire several shots at the suspect, striking him twice.

A Sandusky man, 50-year-old Kevin Randleman, is charged with murder and remains at the University of Toledo Medical Center.

Authorities say the officer stopped Randleman because there were no lights on his bicycle as required by law, and that he initially refused to stop.

Dunn will be buried Friday.
